About The Leprosy Mission

In 1874, Wellesley and Alice Bailey witnessed the devastating effects of leprosy while visiting India. Imitating Christ by caring for the marginalised, the Bailey’s founded The Leprosy Mission (TLM). Nearly 150 years later, The Leprosy Mission is the oldest and largest leprosy-focused organisation in the world today.

The Leprosy Mission is a Christian organisation and one of the leading players in the fight to eliminate leprosy. We are a growing Global Fellowship of 30 Member Countries with three united goals:

to end the transmission of leprosy

to work towards the end of disabilities that are caused by leprosy

to work towards the end of all discrimination and stigma as a result of leprosy

We believe that, with the right resources, we can stop the transmission of leprosy by 2035 so that no one will ever be diagnosed with the disease again. You are a part of the generation that will defeat the oldest disease known to man.
