1. Global Workshops 2. Fundraising Conference 3. COSP14 4. TLM's Day of Prayer 5. Diagnostics webinar
In June and July, the International Office hosted TLM's Global Workshops. These workshops covered finance, HR, and programmes. As well as this, 14 July was the workshops' Joint Day, when TLM teams from across the world had a chance to celebrate together.
On this special day we had the opportunity to listen to stories that helped us to envision what a world without leprosy will look like. People affected by leprosy and teams around the Fellowship showed us that a world without leprosy is already happening and how, by working together, we can create a world where no one is diagnosed with leprosy ever again.
More than 100 people joined us for the day! You can see recordings from there day here.
This year we had 29 participants from 16 Members of the Global Fellowship, with presentations from 9 HR Network members. We also enjoyed presentations from 3 external speakers, including two people with personal experience of disability and leprosy. Topics covered were Succession Planning; Equality, Diversity and Inclusion; Reward and, the Leprosy Competencies Framework. You can view all the sessions via the HR Hub and our YouTube channel.
Satisfaction ratings for the sessions were all over 4/5 with an overall satisfaction of 4.3.
This year’s Global Finance Workshop was well attended, with around 60 participants both from implementing and supporting countries. Our focus this year was on the new multi-year budget template and global finance policies. All the presentations and recordings can be found on the Finance Hub on Glasscubes.
We received positive feedback from the participants with an overall score of 4.2/5. We will be organising follow up webinars in the near future. Thanks to all the participants who contributed to making this year’s workshop a great success.
The theme of the Programmes Workshop 2022 was Inclusive Monitoring, Evaluation, Reflection and Learning.
We learnt how effective M&E systems and meaningful engagement of project clients in monitoring informs the change needed to defeat leprosy and transform lives.
We plan to follow up on individual and organisational commitments around inclusive monitoring and evaluation while looking at what is working, and what can we replicate elsewhere. Workshop resources can be found here.
At the start of Q2, the International Office hosted the Fundraising Conference.
This conference included workshops on supporter wellbeing, story-telling through pictures, the 'ten commandments' of digital fundraising, supporter journeys, and acquiring regular givers.
There was also a sharing of experience and learning from TLM's experiences with the Global Fundraising Campaign and the Nordic Hub.
Materials and recordings have been made available on Glasscubes. If you have any questions, please contact Jo-Anne.
On Wednesday 12 May, TLM hosted its second Global Day of Prayer.
This event, facilitated by the Spiritual Ministry MAWG and the IO, provided TLM teams, supporters, and partners with an opportunity to pray together for a world without leprosy.
There were five global prayer plenary sessions hosted throughout the day on Zoom; four in English and one in French. As well as this, two drop-in prayer sessions took place, which were opportunities for TLM staff to pray together in a non-structured setting.
A series of prayer videos were created by TLM countries and we encourage you to return to these and continue to pray for each other.
COSP14, the UN's major disability rights conference, took place in June. The IO hosted a virtual side event at this conference in partnership with Disabled Peoples' International.
The side event focused on the topic of employment and livelihoods for persons affected by leprosy and persons with disability. We heard from top experts, including persons affected by leprosy, TLM staff, and a representative from the Government of Nepal.
The recording of the side event is available to watch on YouTube (below).
In June, the International Office partnered with Prof Dr Annemieke Geluk to deliver a webinar on leprosy diagnostics.
The webinar detailed how close we are to having field-friendly diagnostic tests for leprosy and what might be done to get these tests ready for use.
We're very grateful to Annemieke for her support and are looking to provide similar webinars in the future.
